ELP’s Visit to General Manager, Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency

Serenely sitting on Governor’s Road, Alausa; is the agency charged with being the vanguard for the protection of the Lagos State’s ecosphere and maintaining quality balance in the biochemical lifestyles of the people.

LASEPA takes charity from home, as they boast of a very neat and planned environment. Waste bins have specific collections, water from their cooling units are piped onto the flower beds (ensuring recycling and minimizing waste), etc.

Dr. Dolapo Fasawe lauded the good work of Environmental Lagos Platform; and encouraged us to keep anteing up in our commitment to making Lagos a better place.

The General Manager took us through the Agency’s duties and their recent efforts in discharging these duties along ICT routes (which has been paying dividends).

Insights were gained on permissible levels of sound, processes of having rallies, etc

A tour of the office revealed a dedicated research library; with copies of Environmental Impact Assessment on the shelves. There is an air-quality measure on the premises (one of the six in Lagos State), a standard laboratory being renovated, and an effluent treatment plant. A power-generating plant using waste was also in development.

The mutual agreement was constant enlightenment is needed, so that people are aware of the need to eschew habits that are detrimental to the quality of life sought by this administration for Lagosians.

ELP assured the LASEPA management of effective support for their work, and received some information materials to aid this.

Drape time was great as the GM humorously directed the photography…
