ELP’s Visit to The Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer; Lagos Water Corporation

When you are one of the old establishments, there is a tendency for things to wane as the years go by.

Throw in new buildings providing their own water, and you are likely to ride with the seeming general consensus; “is Water Corporation still existing?”

To establish this, off we went to Ijora.

From what is about the biggest welcome delegation Environmental Lagos Platform has met, to the sheer zeal for their work, we found; Lagos Water Corporation is still thriving.

“Water is life”. With those words, Engr. Mumuni Badmus delved into the details of LWC

Production is at about 28.6% of the required daily need of Lagosians. Effective utilization stands at half of that capacity.

The remaining half is lost to various challenges leading to heavy water loss. Road digging/construction, vandalism, illegal draining by commercial water producers, etc.

The Corporation is also faced with assault on personnel, as they go about their duties.

Some Lagosians believe the services of LWC are free, but this is not so. It was pointed out that there might be lack of supply in some areas, due to consumers’ refusal to pay.

The visit yielded many collaboration grounds, and ended with commendations for ELP

The GMD/CEO received the drape, and in return; we received items from the Corporation
