ELP’s Visit to The Managing Director; Lagos State Signage and Advertising Agency

Environmental Lagos Platform was looking forward to this visit, and Prince Adedamola Docemo did not disappoint.
Typically, as the year was winding down, his schedule was hectic, but he had time for us.
He spoke on challenges facing the outdoor advertising sector and LASAA as a regulator.
These include the COVID-19 induced financial downturn, risk to staff from abusive clients that get violent, etc.
We raised the issue of proliferation of bars/lounges with obscene posters in children-dotted areas, and he told us; upon noticing such, the Agency engages the clients, gets them to take down the signs and educates them on appropriateness.
The difficult ones are issued stiff fines and there is synergy with relevant State & Federal Government Agencies (APCON); in order to collectively deal with such issues.
We noted how LASAA has helped regulate the placement of signs, so as to curb obstruction to view for road users
The MD commended ELP, assuring us of a great partnership, and asked us to help create awareness on illegal pasting of posters, flyers, etc, as these create a visual blight and environmental nuisance to Lagosians and does not help LASG THEMES agenda, especially in the area of having a well-coordinated and aesthetically-pleasing environment.
With time already taken out of his next meeting, we quickly went into giving the drape…
